On the 28th of October, 10 teams took to the stage to present their innovative health and medical solutions. The showcase was a competition and celebration of the incredible talent and innovation brewing within UNSW’s Faculty of Medicine and Health.
This event highlighted the successful and impactful collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Founders, demonstrating their shared commitment to advancing health innovation.
Each finalist pitched their idea live, followed by a short Q&A with our expert panel of judges who assessed pitches based on impact, feasibility, and scalability.
Thank you to Dr. George Sharbeen, Dr. Anthony Sunjaya, and Dr. Parisa Glass for their expertise and considered questions on the night.

Congratulations to Joseph Zhu from the School of Population Health and the School of Computer Science and the rest of the team at Everywhere Health for taking out 1st place.
Everywhere Health were pitching a low-cost smartwatch monitor that turns any compatible watch into a diagnostic-grade cardiac monitor. This expands smartwatch detection from atrial fibrillation alone (~25% of arrhythmias) to over 95% of arrhythmias.

Congratulations to Peter Wagner from the School of Optometry and Vision Science and the rest of the team at Equitable Vision Diagnostics for taking out 2nd prize.
Equitable Vision Diagnostics were pitching miniaturised traditional optometry equipment by embedding core diagnostic functions into portable, head-mounted display systems.
This approach transforms bulky tools into a lightweight, scalable, and user-friendly platform that delivers standardised binocular vision assessments anywhere, from clinics to community settings, telehealth, and even home use.

Congratulations to Kate Drury from the School of Health Sciences and the rest of the team at Heart Lung Clinic for taking out the People’s Choice Award.
Heart Lung Clinic were pitching the establishment of a multi-purpose Breathlessness Clinic that would be a first of its kind in NSW. The clinic would offer specialised assessment and provide cardiopulmonary exercise testing, spirometry, and point-of-care haemoglobin testing to help differentiate between complex, overlapping causes of breathlessness.
This clinic aims to reduce diagnostic delays and support timely, evidence-based care.
