On July 25th, the Faculty of Medicine and Health’s Ignite Your Impact team, led by Prof Phoebe Phillips and Dr Sam McAllery, in partnership with Founders, proudly hosted the first of its kind, BYO Innovation Challenge.
This challenge was co-designed specifically to meet the unique needs of our Faculty, inviting innovators to bring their health ideas and solutions to the table for a one-day immersive workshop that focused on refining concepts, ideating, prototyping, testing ideas and pitching.
Twelve teams participated, each with uniquely innovative ideas and solutions.
On the 6th of August, eight teams, selected from the initial 12, took to the stage to present their innovative solutions. The showcase was a competition and celebration of the incredible talent and innovation brewing within UNSW’s Medicine and Health.
This event highlighted the successful and impactful collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Founders, demonstrating their shared commitment to advancing health innovation.

A special thanks to our wonderful judges, Prof Sallie Pearson (Health Systems Research Theme Lead), Dr Sam van Bohemen (CEO of Nuroflux), and Priscilla Tan (Prototypes Manager), who faced the difficult task of selecting the winning teams.
